The teacher
Cora Voogt-Hildering
My name is Cora Voogt-Hildering. I have played the violin since I was six, and I have never stopped.
When I was eleven, I started playing in a symphony orchestra. In the end, that was the reason I went to the conservatory. At the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague I trained as a music teacher, with the violin as my main subject. I was taught by the wonderful violinist Jacques Holtman.
Alongside my violin teaching, I have 38 years of experience as a music teacher for ages 2 to 80: from music classes for toddlers to final music exams in secondary school.
Making music together
As I said, I think making music together is very important, for myself too, to this day. I am currently the concertmaster of the Rijnlands Symfonieorkest, and in the past I held the same position with the Van Wassenaerorkest and the Leiderdorps Kamerorkest. It is a rewarding task to inspire the members of an orchestra to master the (often difficult) notes.
As a freelance violinist I play in ad hoc orchestras in the region, and abroad as well. I regularly go on tour to Germany, France, Spain and Italy.

Besides the violin, I play the viola in a string quartet: the Saffier String Quartet. It is wonderful to do. I love passing on the passion and joy I find in making music to my students.
